Murray Kelman from Enviro-dynamics

Junior Environmental Consultant

I have a deep passion for wildlife and research, with a particular interest in poorly known species and regions. My work with Enviro-dynamics began as a school-based traineeship in 2021, during which time I gained proficiency in weed management, river restoration, orthomosaic mapping, conservation works, GIS and more. In 2023 I left Tasmania and travelled for a “gap year”, which included working as a remote expedition guide in the Kimberley region of WA. During that gap year I worked remotely for Enviro-dynamics, coordinating communications content.

I am now completing a BSc (Zoology & Ecology) at James Cook University in North Queensland. I continue to work for Enviro-dynamics, both remotely and on-site. An interesting project I’m currently working on is the swift parrot monitoring program, where I’m climbing trees and installing monitoring software to determine drivers of nesting failure/success in this critically endangered species.

My wildlife interests are broad ranging, with a particular avian knowledge base. I am also engaged in microbat research, a project of particular interest to me given the lack of research into this unique group of animals. My spare time often finds me searching for rare and unique wildlife, usually with a camera in hand. You can see a few of my photos here.
