Pippa, The Wonder Dog
Phytophthora Detection Dog
Pippa joined the Enviro-dynamics team in 2024 and is training to be a professional Phytophthora cinnamomi detection dog
Pippa, a springer spaniel is being trained by handler Morgan McPherson and when qualified will play a big role in shaping the Tasmanian approach to Pc Detection Dogs.
This work is important as the best way to stop Phytophthora cinnamomi from spreading is to have an accurate idea of where it occurs and be able to detect it on vehicles, equipment and materials used in land management such as roading gravel and native plant stock used for revegetation and forestry.
This project is supported with funding from the Australian Government’s Saving Native Species game changer grants and contributions from WA, NSW, and Tasmanian project partners.
